Recently, Mr. Livorsi's construction class students went on a field trip put on by VALEES and hosted by the Painters' Union Hall in Aurora. There the students got a chance to learn about building trades apprenticeship programs, how they work, and the benefits and requirements. They also got to walk through the building and talk with people who work in many of the various construction trades unions and learn about what they do. Students were given the chance to bend sheet metal with HVAC professionals, bend conduit, do some wiring exercises with the IBEW, do virtual welding with the Pipefitters and Plumbers, make drink koozies with the Mechanical Insulators, and much more. It was a great learning experience for all involved.
