Ofrenda Competition

In Early November, Spanish 1 classes at the high school participated in an ofrenda competition.

An ofrenda is the offering placed in a home altar during the annual Dia de Muertos celebration and is usually created in honor of a deceased friend or family member, welcoming them to the altar setting.

Each class built an ofrenda in the library to celebrate the life of a person of Hispanic or Spanish descent. Students and staff were invited to view the ofrendas and vote for their favorite. The winner was Señora Dennis' 5th period class who honored Selena Quintanilla.
