Fox Valley Students in Emergency Medical Training (EMT) and Basic Nurse Assistant Training (BNAT) spent the day working together. The EMT class is learning to do patient assessment on real people to prepare for clinical. They are assessing both medical and traumatic emergencies.
The BNAT students assisted as patients. These skills include making sure the scene is safe, number of patients, what resources are needed, do they need additional help, how to manage airway, breathing, give oxygen if needed, circulation and the determine if the patient is an immediate transport or do they stay on the scene and provide assessment and care. They do a hands on physical exam as well as assess the patient's vital signs.
