Kaneland Connects Rollout Communication

We are excited to introduce our new Infinite Campus report cards. These report cards are created through our Infinite Campus system and will record quarter/trimester/semester grades. For families with children in grades K-8, you will see a report card that shares our Kaneland reported standards, along with a score of a 3, 2, or 1. Please note that if you see a reported standard with no score, it means that it will be taught and assessed, but your child still needs to be prepared or tested in this area. By the end of the year, you will see all of these standards with a numerical grade. For high school parents, you will continue to see a traditional letter grade for the semester grades determined by our updated grading scale.

The numbers on our K-8 report card represent the scope of learning, not a single test grade for that standard.

Here's what the numbers on the proficiency scale represent:

- Proficient (3): Student has fully demonstrated content knowledge and skill application of the outcomes for the particular reported standard at this point in the year.

- Approaching Proficient (2): Student has partial proficiency of the expected content/skills. Partial development indicates progress has been made, but gaps in understanding or application exist.

- Needs Improvement (1): Student needs to demonstrate more evidence of content/skill proficiency. The student needs to gain more understanding and application.

In addition, we are updating you about the recent Kaneland Connects strategic plan team meeting that took place on September 27, 2023. After two years of individual commitment meetings, we have decided to bring together one large team for a comprehensive dive into our action plans. The team participated in various activities such as a brief review of each commitment, an individual tour of how Kaneland staff has assessed our progress of each action statement, and the identification of trends/questions/concerns for each of the commitments. Subgroups for each commitment met to review the trends and write preferred futures for each commitment. The team also shared suggested topics for future meetings, including having our community participate in activities, beginning to build comprehensive communication plans, and promoting further parent information nights.

Our administrative team will combine the preferred futures into one document to be shared with the team at our January 31, 2024 meeting. Contact Dr. Sarah Mumm at 10358@kaneland.org if you would like to be a part of the Kaneland Connects Committee. We look forward to informing you and supporting your child's educational journey.

Sincerely,

Kaneland District Administration
