Fourth and fifth graders at McDole Elementary had the exciting opportunity to meet author Kate Hannigan. During her virtual visit, she inspired students with insights into curiosity, reading, writing, researching, and resilience. Drawing from her picture book biographies and graphic novels about the Great Chicago Fire and WWII on the home front, she shared how stories can preserve history and connect generations. A heartfelt thank you to the Kaneland Foundation for making this event possible through the Book Knight Grant, which provided copies of Kate Hannigan’s books to several of our students.
