5 Schools, 1 Book Community Campaign

Dear Families,

We are excited to announce our Five Schools, One Book reading initiative will culminate in a final activity that encourages our school community to come together for a meaningful purpose.

This project will not only help raise funds for a worthy cause, but also provide an opportunity for families to bond, work together towards a common goal, and make a positive impact in others’ lives.

Families are encouraged to brainstorm and implement creative fundraising ideas.  This could include bake sales, snow shoveling, sponsored walks, game night, hot chocolate stand, or any activities that your family enjoys.  You also need to decide what cause you are raising money for.

To help you get started, we have outlined some steps and tips for creating a successful event:

  1. Choose a Cause - Select a charity or cause that resonates with your family.  You can even research the organization to understand it’s mission and how the funds will be used.  If you are unsure, you could collect donations for our Kaneland Cares Closet.

  2. Set a Goal - Determine how much money you aim to raise.  Having a clear goal will help motivate participants and provide a benchmark for success.

  3. Plan the Event - Decide on the type of event you would like to host.

  4. Set a Date and Location - Choose a date and location that works for your family and is accessible to participants.

  5. Promote Your Event - Encourage friends, family, and neighbors to participate and support your cause.

  6. Collect Donations - Clearly communicate how participants can donate, whether through cash, checks, or online platforms.

  7. Share Your Success - Consider sharing your experience with the school community.   Snap a picture or pictures during your event and share your picture and brief description of your project with kanelandreads@kaneland.org. Please enter your school name in the subject line.  If you do, you will be entered into a drawing for a literacy raffle basket.   The pictures would also be used to share among the Kaneland community on our social media accounts and/or district website.

We are thrilled to see our families have fun, get involved, and support charitable causes.  If you have any questions, please reach out to kanelandread@kaneland.org.  All submissions are due by Tuesday, April 9, 2025.

Thank you for your support of our Five Schools, One Book reading initiative and helping make a difference in our community.
